Backgauge Options for Press Brakes

The backgauge is the positioning reference for your flange length. Selecting the right axis configuration improves accuracy, reduces setup time, and increases consistency in repeat production.

Quick Guide — Choose by Part & Production Needs

2-Axis (X, R)

For standard bends and fast setup. Ideal for common parts and cost-sensitive projects.

4-Axis (X, R, Z1, Z2)

More flexibility for wide parts and finger positioning. Recommended for varied jobs.

6–8 Axis

For complex parts and repeat production where speed and consistency matter most.

Recommended Control Matching

Use this as a quick selection reference. We can configure DELEM / CYBELEC / ESA (CNC) or entry-level NC controllers based on your required axes.

Backgauge Axes ↔ Controller Recommendation

2-Axis Backgauge

Recommended Control: NC (Entry)

Good fit with TP10 / ESTUN E21 for standard bending work.

4-Axis Backgauge

Recommended Control: Touch CNC (Standard)

Suggested: DELEM DA53T / DA58T or CYBELEC CybTouch 8/12.

6–8 Axis Backgauge

Recommended Control: Advanced CNC (Advanced)

Suggested: DELEM DA66T, CYBELEC VisiTouch, or ESA S650W/S875W.

Configurations

Backgauge layout can be matched with your selected controller and machine size. Below are three common configurations. For special parts, custom axis combinations can be offered on request.

2-Axis Press Brake Backgauge (X, R)

2-Axis CNC Backgauge (X, R)

BGA-2 backgauge for standard bending work with efficient positioning.

Typical application

Job shops, standard brackets, panels, and common bends with quick daily setup.

  • Ball screws and linear guide on X & R axis
  • Axis X speed: 500 mm/s
  • Manual Z1/Z2 with HIWIN linear guide
  • Mechanical accuracy: ± 0.03 mm
  • Fingers with double stop and micrometric adjustment
4-Axis Press Brake Backgauge (X, R, Z1, Z2)

4-Axis CNC Backgauge (X, R, Z1, Z2)

BGA-4 backgauge for higher flexibility on wider parts and varied production.

Typical application

Mixed production, wider parts, frequent changeovers, and improved positioning consistency.

  • Ball screws and linear guide on X & R axis
  • Precision belts and YYC rack on Z1–Z2 axes
  • Fingers with double stop and micrometric adjustment
  • Mechanical accuracy: ± 0.03 mm
  • Z1–Z2 speed: 1000 mm/s; X speed: 500 mm/s
  • Load capacity: 30 kg per support
6 to 8 Axis Backgauge Configurations

6–8 Axis Backgauge (X1/X2, R1/R2, Z1/Z2)

BGA-6/8 configurations for complex parts, repeat production, and maximum efficiency.

Typical application

Complex parts, asymmetric bends, high repeat orders, and automation-ready production lines.

  • Independent X1 / X2 and R1 / R2 axes for asymmetric parts
  • Ball screws and linear guide on X & R axes
  • Precision linear guide and YYC rack on Z1–Z2 axes
  • Mechanical accuracy: ± 0.03 mm
  • Repeatability: ± 0.02 mm
  • X1–X2 speed: 600 mm/s (up to 1000 mm/s optional)
  • R1–R2 speed: 500 mm/s
  • Z1–Z2 speed: up to 1100 mm/s
  • Load capacity: 30 kg per support (higher on request)
  • Fully synchronized with CNC system for automatic positioning
